New
research reveals that British consumers are currently leading the mobilisation
trend when it comes to smartphone usage for online shopping. Out of 18 European
countries, it was found that almost one third of UK citizens, or 32%, shop on
their mobile compared against just 8% in Italy and France, 15% in Germany, and
19% in Sweden.
Commissioned
by Google, the research from WPP’s research firm TNS also revealed that 68% of
Britons are using smartphones and make up the highest proportion of people who
regularly make a purchase every month.
Mobilisation
is a trend picking up momentum with big retailers following the smartphone
revolutions and with the expectation that web traffic through mobile devices
reaching 61% by 2016, who can blame them. Considering the evolution of
smartphone and tablets, your customers are always within reach. There is
enormous potential to be had here. Amazon and eBay already accommodate for
smartphones with their mobile apps, if you also sell from your own website it
is now essential to ensure that your site is mobile-ready.
